Painting Exhibition of Brigette Polemis on the historic ship -museum “SS Hellas Liberty”
The grand opening of the dedicated to the Liberty-type cargo ship Brigitte Polemis painting exhibition ships held on June 6, 2012. Crowds of people honored with their presence this important event, which took place in the most appropriate environment; the reconstructed ship SS “Hellas Liberty”, an illustrious member of the large family of commercial vessels of Liberty type, which named SS “Arthur M. Huddell” acted in numerous operations of the Second World War, and especially during the landing in Normandy (Operation “Overlord”). Having multiple images and experiences from her, heavily involved in maritime business, family environment, Brigitte Polemis created an exhibition with this theme, wanting to connect the past with the present.
Among the many and extremely important personalities who were present in the exhibition, from shipping, economy and culture, distinguished Mr. Spyros Polemis, owner of Polembros company (among others). Present was also Mr. Andreas Tsavliris, president of ISU (International Salvage Union), a leading figure in maritime matters. After the speech by Mr. Spyros Polemis, attendees had the opportunity to tour in the exhibition space, which was hosted inside the vessel. Exhibition’s paintings were also on sale, so a lot of art-lovers were there to evaluate and see profit off the bargain.
